Frederic

Hola, I am Frederic (20) from Cologne. I work at Datagroup Köln GmbH (thank you for this opportunity) and I am really glad to be a part of this exchange. Time flew by the last weeks and the last days in Málaga have begun.

First of all, I want to give a short overview of what I did at work.
The entire period of the exchange, I worked with Dennis at AT4Wireless, an international company focused on wireless communication. In addition to four offices in spain, AT4Wireless consists of 11 worldwide locations. WiFi, RFID, Bluetooth and UMTS/LTE are part of the company's business.
I helped to work on a project that belongs to the European Railway Traffic Management system. ERTMS is the future system for management and control of rail traffic on transeuropean lines.

AT4 develops a new standard in collaboration with Alcatel, various spanish transport companies and universities, called TECRAIL. The TECRAIL project studies the viability of deploying LTE for use as a radio access technology in a railway management system, that will be used for signalling, automatic train operation, on-board communication and train to track communications. Messages between train and servers are exchanged nearly every second. The aim is to use railway lines more efficiently and safely. The system already operates for testing purposes in several countries.

Besides work we learned a lot about spanish culture and the spanish way of life. With germany´s role in the economical crisis in mind, the locals were friendly in every situation (even when we tried to make use of our poor language skills). Some of us played football, went to the gym or used their spanish sim-cards to set up other types of contacts. Moreover, we visited Granada, Benalmádena, Gibraltar, Tarifa, Juzcar and Marbella. We spent a lot of time in the center and on the beach of Málaga and therefore became familiar with local food and traditions.

All in all, we had a great time in Málaga and I didn't regret a second that I took part. I highly recommend this type of exchange to everybody who has the chance to participate.

Costa del Sol

My name is Dennis and I am 21 years old. In Germany I work as an IT System Electronics Technician for Currenta GmbH& Co. OHG. During my stay in Málaga, I was working for AT4Wireless. My task was to support the team in designing and installing the new Business network.

While I was living in Málaga, I tried to see a lot of the Costa del Sol. In the first Week, I traveled to Juzcar, the fist smurff village in the world. From there I had a fantastic view through the mountain range.

I also visited Benalmadena, where I took the cablecar to reach the top of Calamorro Mountain. Calamorro Mountain, one of the highest spots of the Costa del Sol, is almost 800 meters above sea level. The outlook of the Costa del Sol was wonderful.

On the last Weekend, we rent two cars and traveled to Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a typical tourist city. After passing the National Border we took a taxi to visit Gibraltar and its fantastic landscape. The Rock of Gibraltar is more than 400m high. Barbary apes are living on the rock. Usually, you can feed them and take photos with them as they are gentle. But be careful! Never leave your bag open. Valerij lost his Chips after a little "fight" with one of the Barbary apes. After 10 Seconds Valerij noticed, that he is not strong enough to win the fight. Afterwards another ape tried to steal something different out of the his bag. But this time the Ape wasn't decisive enough, to land a coup.

After these four weeks in Málaga, I have to say, that I'm really happy to get the chance for this Internship abroad. It was perfect to get to know the Spanish culture, the Spanish Way of living and the Spanish Way of working. In case there was a chance to repeat this exchange again, I would take it immediately.

Great view with the smurfs

Hola,
I'm Marc (18), i come from Bergisch Gladbach, it's near Cologne. In Germany I'm working at Deutsche Telekom AG as an IT-Specialist.
In Málaga, that's in Spain, I was working for four weeks at App Informática, that's a hardware retailer.
My task was the support of costumers and troubleshooting of hardware. I was also setting up computers for customers. The people from App Informática were very welcoming and helpful.
We (Frédéric, Dennis and I) drove with Mr. Fischer around Júzcar. We were over 1000 Meters high. At the top of the Mountain you have a great view. Here some pictures:

Do you know the blue village from the movie "smurfs"? We were there.

All houses are blue. It's different, but it looks nice.

Christian at I.E.S. Campanillas

Hola!

I'm Christian and I'm 23 years old. In Germany I'm working at REWE Group as an IT-Specialist for systemintegration.

Here in Málaga I'm working for four weeks at the I.E.S. Campanillas with David.
We had to set up an Internetgateway with a captive portal and a proxy-server. That was nice because both of us had never done that before. So we could learn much about that.

In our free time we had seen a lot of things in Spain.
We enjoyed the weather at the beach.  That was very nice because when we came to Málaga in Cologne the temperature was just about 5°C.

We went to Mabella to see the harbor, Tarifa and Granada (Alhambra).
But the most impressive trip was Gibraltar! It was amazing that you can see the coast of Morocco from there although the weather was not so good at this day.

And it was wonderful to see those apes living on the "mountain" of Gibraltar and see them steal some Chips out of Valerijs bag!
Maybe this happend because Velrij not slept enough... ;-)

Good bye Málaga!

Malaga Paradise

Hola guys,

my name is Valerij Stelmach, I am 22 years old and happy that I took part on this exciting exchange in Malaga. I've learned a lot about spanish mentality and their "mañana" lifestyle.

Marc is doing the photo :D

Johannes and I were working in a private school in Malaga (MIT School Malaga). We had to install cameras, fix cables and notebooks. Also we had to renew the IP adresses at the local computers, update some programs and structurize the local network.
The school has a lot of kids and students from the kindergarten up to the high school. In every room were cameras installed for the security. Almost every room had a smart board installed, it's a sensor sensitive board. All teachers and students are working interactive with the beamer at the smart board.
Some classes have got Android Tablets installed at the tables, so students can quickly look up some information and pictures from the internet.

Alberto (our responsible person) was very helpful and nice to us. He helped us if we had problems or questions.
Every morning a private bus from the school picked us up and get us to the school. That was a big bus with leather seats and and at the end of the bus, there were sofas with a big table. Awesome!

Sorry for the quality.

In our first week, we don’t have done that much. We visited the beach and checked out where we can eat, we found a lot of pizza and Shawarma (I can't even hear this word anymore, we overate them) restaurants, for only 3€! Later for 2€ :D! I think you can understand how the quality was for 2€ (but you can really eat it)!

The best part in Spain was the trip to Gibraltar and Tarifa. In Gibraltar we were on the top of the rock. I really cannnot explain how beatiful and overwhelming it was. There were a lot of (monuments) in Gibraltar that reminds you the military time, there were still a lot of military checkpoints of the British Army.

AND there were a lot of (!"$!*%(=*) monkeys, I really LIKED monkeys until a hoggish monkey stole my new pack of Pringels. I wanted to take out some Pringels to gave them some crisps but one monkey jumped in front of me and grab into my bag and pulled out my fresh, new, not opened, delicious crisps and run away. I tried to get them back but in this time a second monkey was pulling out my beach towel. That was a hard fight but I could rescue my bag and my beach towel!
R.I.P. Pringels onion sour cream

Evil monkey!

My Pringels

If you want to see a beatiful beach in Spain than you have to go to Tarifa. It's a beatiful big golden beach.

Tarifa

The worst part in Spain was for me the trip to Alhambra on a grey, cold and rainy day. And that the people, even in a bank cannot speak english. But with some body language and signs and words like "Vamos" the people understood us :D.

We also visited Marbella, La Linea, Granada and Benalmadena.

Benalmadena

PS: I only slept in the first week every day, after the first week, almost everyone who was laughing me out, was sleeping after work. :P

PPS: Gerrit and i had the worst room in our Hostel, only one normal bed and a double bed with own bathroom.
The other guys were lucky, with 7 people in one room and no own bathroom ! :D

Málaga - Great intership

Hello!

My name is Johannes (21) and I work with Valerij in the MIT School in Málaga. The school is located in Campanillas where other companies are located too. The school is a private school where all students learn bilingual. In the school are children with an age of childs in a  kindergarden until an age of students which will get the baccalaureate.

The MIT School

Classroom with tablets
The school starts at 9 o' clock in the morning and we are allowed to drive with the schoolbus to school.

The students use Laptops or Tablets in the classroom and in every classroom are Smartboards.
A Smartboard is a big Touchpanel for a Beamer presentation.

So the students have interactive lessons.

Our job was to install IP cameras, repair broken hardware or beamer and look for all IPs of the hardware.

Beside our work we see much of the culture in Spain. In Málaga you can visit the beach, the city, the football stadium, market halls, many bars, and nice sights.
On the weekends we travelled in Andalucía to Granada, Gibtraltar, Tarifa and other nice places to see citys and sights.

In Gibraltar there are apes and one of them stole the pringles of Valerij and there was no chance to get the Pringles back.

The apes are very trustfull and Marc took a photo of one of them sitting on my shoulder.

I'm glad that I make the intership. It is amazing. The weather in Málaga is usualy very nice and I'm fascinated about the other culture.

I hope you enjoyed the post.
We will see us.

Greetings from Málaga.

Bye.
Johannes

¡Hola! My name is Marcel and I am 20 years old. In Cologne I work as an IT-Specialist for systemintegration at the Bull GmbH.

The last four weeks I worked as "Práctica de Informática" at Randal Systems in Malaga. At the company I had various tasks, one of my tasks at the beginning was to create an outlook manual to show the other employes how outlook works. After that I had to install and configure the local router and switches. Another task was to setup 2 server and a NAS, one of the server, it's a linux server, is used in the company as a file and mail server with Open-Xchange in combination with Outlook. The other Server I had to configure is used as a backup solution in combination with a NAS. The work in the company was very interesting because I have learned new things and had to communicate all the time in a foreign language.

In the free time we made some trips to other cities around Malaga. We visited Benalmadena, Gibralter, Granada and Tarifa all the places were very beautiful, but the surfers beach at Tarifa and the mountain of Gibralter with the wild monkeys on the top were the most beautiful places. As nice as the monkeys are you have to care that they don't steal your food.
